The IB continuum of international education for 3 to 19 year olds is unique because of its academic and personal rigour. The students are challenged to excel in their studies and in their personal growth. The IB aspires to help schools develop well-rounded students with character who respond to challenges with optimism and an open mind, are confident in their own identities, make ethical decisions, join with others in celebrating our common humanity and are prepared to apply what they learn in real-world, complex and unpredictable situations.

We take the opportunity to share with you all that VIVA The School is the first IB PYP (Primary Years Programme) Candidate school in Andhra Pradesh. We are pursuing authorization as an IB World School. Primary Years Programme at our school is being offered to students aged 3 to 11. PYP encourages transdisciplinary way of teaching and learning wherein the subject disciplines like Mathematics, Language, Science, Social Studies, Arts and PSPE transcend their confines that involves going between, across and beyond different disciplines to develop a new experience of learning that is applied in real life situation. To this the students are given ample experience to inquire, explore, think and analyze their learning by researching using various sources, interviewing people, participating in a field trip and so on. The Key Concepts are the essence of PYP wherein the students here gain conceptual understanding which is universal and timeless. Thus they learn about the happenings around them as well as around the world. The teachers here act as facilitators and strive towards creating an engaging, relevant, significant and challenging learning environment. The students develop the attitude and skills that are required to build on their knowledge as well as develop interpersonal skills to face the world. The teaching and learning here focuses on concepts that are universal and timeless.

As the quote by Benjamin Franklin goes “Tell me and I’ll forget, Show me and I may remember, Involve me and I’ll learn”, teachers plan ample learning engagements to ensure relevant learning takes place through audio-visuals, hands on activity-based learning plans and so on. To conclude, inculcating learning to gain the knowledge when needed, assimilate it, and integrate it to synthesize new ideas and tackle challenges is what we aim at.
